These are sorted as Buffs, Debuffs, Stealth, Unique and Special effects. Some effects come from Skills and Trinkets. Skills can now cause a variety of effects that are shown by tokens. To see what each token means, each token can be moused over and the list of tokens can be viewed at the token glossary. This can also be done during combat.

Controlled Burn Information

  • Type: Special
  • Effect: Inflicts burn token status effect darkest dungeon 2 wiki guide 20px 2 on monsters in this Rank at the start of their Turn

Controlled burn is a special status effect in Darkest Dungeon 2 that inflicts Burn on monsters. The targeted rank receives the Controlled Burn status for 3 turns, applying a 2 point burn (3 turn duration) on the unit in that rank at the beginning of their turn. Note that as the burn is applied during the enemies turn, they do not take the damage on the turn they initially receive the burn. This effect lasts for 3 turns. When upgraded, the damage increases to a 3 point burn (3 turn duration), however, the upgrade tooltip currently shows no visible difference between upgrades.

Burn is a DoT (damage over time) status effect similar to BLEED and BLIGHT that reduces HP at the start of a hero's or enemy's turn. This is affected by burn resistance, which decreases the likelihood of  being burned from skills or effects.
