Crit is a Status Effects in Darkest Dungeon 2. Status Effects are now used as Tokens that are guaranteed effects upon use during combat. These are sorted as Buffs, Debuffs, Stealth, Unique and Special effects. Some effects come from Skills and Trinkets. Skills can now cause a variety of effects that are shown by tokens. To see what each token means, each token can be moused over and the list of tokens can be viewed at the token glossary. This can also be done during combat.

Unlike in the previous game title, Critical damage in Darkest Dungeon 2 is no longer affected by accuracy. This damage is guaranteed upon use of the token and is only affected by the opponents potential resistance abilities. However this crit damage token also ignores the 20% resistance abilities that any opponents may have in place. Crit chance in Darkest Dungeon previously had depended on upgraded weapon and armor stats, however with Weapon and Armor upgrades removed from Darkest Dungeon 2, it now relies on the equipped Skills. 

Critical Damage maximizes damage dealt, dealing 150% of the original damage. Both Heroes and Enemies in Darkest Dungeon 2 have the ability to deal critical hits. Receiving a critical hit from enemies will also add on stress to characters, while other characters in the party will also be given a 50% to gain 5 Stress points themselves. On the other hand, dealing a successful critical hit will help with alleviating the dealers stress by 3 points while other party members have a 25% chance to alleviate the same amount as well. Other buffs when dealing critical hits is that dealing a hit will give them have a higher chance to apply status effects with up to 20% increased chance, and effects such as bleed and blight have a 50% increase in duration. Depending on the character class, landing a critical hit will also get a chance to receive a 2 round buff

Items that Apply Crit

In Darkest Dungeon 2, there are certain items as well that can apply the Critical (CRIT) status effect such as consuming combat items when you are in a battle, using Inn items at the Inn before embarking on a journey, or by equipping Trinkets.
