Cultist is an Enemy Faction in Darkest Dungeon 2. Enemies in the game are encountered in Factions, and do not mix with each other. Each enemy encounter will be a combination of enemies from one Faction type. There are seven factions found in this title, the Lost Battalion Cadavers, Cosmic Cultist, Gaunt, Fanatics, Pillagers, Swine, and Plague Eaters. Each Faction is generally found in one Location Biome, except Cultist and Pillagers since Cultist Encounters and Road Fights can be randomly triggered at anytime during the journey throughout the maps. Enemies from one factions share similar characteristics, but ultimately have their own set of Unique Skills. Enemies that don't fall into these Factions are usually found in the Echoes of the Past where Heroes explore enemies and ghosts of their memories.

- Location: Cultist Encounters
- Cultist emanate from the MOUNTAIN and the great evil contained therein. Cultist encounters are always a tough fight, but the rewards are equally valuable. Stave off the evil, reduce your LOATHING, and use the spoils to equip yourself for the final assault on the MOUNTAIN. Culists are also known as Cosmic creatures with otherworldly abilities. Though they are from the mountain, Cultist Encounters can be triggered in any Location throughout the maps. This also gives players a chance to obtain Cultist Trinkets that are only obtained through Cultist Encounters. Dark Impulse is also obtainable through Cultist Encounteres which is needed in order to use exclusive Cultist Trinkets.
