Darkest Dungeon 2 is a single-player strategy-based RPG that is developed and published by Red Hook Studios. It is the sequel of the highly acclaimed Darkest Dungeon. The Early Access for Darkest Dungeon 2 releases on October 26, 2021 for PC via Epic Games Store.

 

 What's new in Darkest Dungeon 2?

Players can expect shorter runs, rather than the first large campaign. Players will be given the chance to focus on just four Heroes this time compared to the faster turnover rate of the previous game, where replacing crazed heroes was the norm. This time the run will only take five hours, so character Quirks may be more dynamic and affect gameplay early on for the rest of the party. This time though, the full stress meter triggers a meltdown instead of a heart attack, affecting their vitality and relationships, which in turn also affects other Heroes' sanity.

• Combat

Combat will remain similar to the first edition of the game, but will appear in 3D. Some aesthetic changes to characters and animations during combat have been modified. 

• Mechanics & Stats

Stats like hit points, speed and resistance will still remain in the game, however familiar stats like accuracy have been wiped completely from the mechanics of the game. There are no more upgrades to armor and weapons to simplify combat and Builds.

Most Effects from the previous game- immobilizer, stun, bleed, blind and some combo attacks have more been turned into tokens.

• Trinkets

Trinkets will now also be able to grant effects and play a bigger roll in combat since they are the new main equippable items without armor upgrades.
