Plague Eater is an Enemy Faction in Darkest Dungeon 2. Enemies in the game are encountered in Factions, and do not mix with each other. Each enemy encounter will be a combination of enemies from one Faction type. There are seven factions found in this title, the Lost Battalion Cadavers, Cosmic Cultists, Gaunt, Fanatics, Pillagers, Swine, and Plague Eater. Each Faction is generally found in one Location Biome, except Cultists and Pillagers since Cultist Encounters and Road Fights can be randomly triggered at anytime during the journey throughout the maps. Enemies from one factions share similar characteristics, but ultimately have their own set of Unique Skills. Enemies that don't fall into these Factions are usually found in the Echoes of the Past where Heroes explore enemies and ghosts of their memories.
Voracious and decadent, the landowners and peasants alike descended into an orgy of consumption. They emptied their larders, gorging themselves as the world began to crumble. First, they ate the rotten flesh of their animals. Then, still hungry, they turned upon themselves. They thrill to the succulent flavour that grows up from some nightmare pit far beneath the earth.

- The Plague Eater reside in the once tame farmlands known as The Foetor in Darkest Dungeon 2. These beasts were named after the regular peasants and people they once were, made up of Lords, Maids, Butchers, Babies and regular working people of the land. Plague Eater have also compromised the livestock animals creating Plague Eater Animals that can be afflicted with the Fodder Status Effects. With their ravenous hunger, this allows these enemy-types to feed on each other in order to gain personal buffs for Combat. Other Plague Eater enemy-types benefit their battle as piles of meat that have abilities to release a tempting aroma and afflict Heroes with various debuffs, forcing them to move closer to the meat just to have a bite and further afflicting them with effects and the opportunity to take a hit with their new vulnerable positioning.
