Pets are a new mechanic that is featured in Darkest Dungeon 2. Each pet will have unique abilities and buffs that can help the heroes in the party. The first six pets that players will unlock will give buffs based on the items that are equipped on the Stagecoach. The last four pets will give direct combat effects. The goal for these is to create Stagecoach builds focused around a pet. Now, various stagecoach items will have a GEAR type tag and its effects on a pet will scale based on the number of GEAR type stagecoach items equipped.
Darkest Dungeon 2 Pets Guide
- You can unlock a total of 10 different pets, they're available to unlock at the Altar of Hope and can be unlocked with a certain number of Candles of Hope.
- Once at the Altar of Hope, select the Intrepid Coast section and you'll see the "Companionship".
- Pets can then be purchased at the Provisioner at the first Inn for one relic each. The Provisioner will only have three of the pets you currently unlocked, it does not work the same with Trinkets where you will automatically receive newly unlocked trinkets in your inventory.
- You can only equip one pet at a time at the Wainwright screen at the Inn.
- You cannot change pets during an expedition.
- You can name your pet via any character page, you will see the pet tab next to the goals tab.
