Speed is a Status Effects in Darkest Dungeon 2. Status Effects are now used as Tokens that are guaranteed effects upon use during combat. These are sorted as Buffs, Debuffs, Stealth, Unique and Special effects. Some effects come from Skills and Trinkets. Skills can now cause a variety of effects that are shown by tokens. To see what each token means, each token can be moused over and the list of tokens can be viewed at the token glossary. This can also be done during combat.

Speed Information

  • Type: Buff
  • Effect: Acts faster next Round

Speed is a status effect in Darkest Dungeon 2. It can apply to a team and an individual character pushing their abilities first when taking turns in combat. A hero with speed is more likely to act faster- which means they will likely take their turn before another character, depending on their rank. While usually combat is turn based according to team rank and enemy team rank, this could also mean that the preferred character may take their turn before the next enemy in line, giving them an advantage.  However, there are also Hastened enemies that begin Combat with a speed buff. They will be indicated as "Hastened Enemies" and a predetermined Speed stat (eg. +X SPD) This could guarantee that enemies may take their turns first before any play and the order may be as follows: Enemy turn, Enemy turn, Enemy turn, Hero turn.

Players must be strategic with this ability as using it at the right time will be greatly advantageous to the team if a member had a valuable skill that would be beneficial to be played first rather than choosing from the set of Skills of the character intended to go first.
