Strategy Writeup

The team lineup that was used for this guide are the base Heroes you receive at the start of the game. If you've managed to increase your player profile level and unlocked new heroes, you may use them and still follow the strategy by using similar skills and tactics listed down below.

Team Lineup used:

The Deacon is usually accompanied by 2 Cherubs in battle. The Deacon hits hard and deals a lot of damage with its attacks. Most of its attacks also inflicts different negative status effects to your heroes and sometimes apply positive status effects or buffs on itself and its team. Aside from that, the 2 Cherubs accompanying the Deacon will most likely use their Worship skill on the Deacon, using their Worship skill will grant a +25% Heal and also clears all DOTs inflicted on the Deacon.

It would be ideal to eliminate the 2 Cherubs first while rushing down attacks that deal negative status effects on the Deacon. The Cherubs can also activate their skill that grants themselves a Dodge buff token, you can use the Highwayman's Skill called Tracking Shot, this skill is useful at disabling enemies that are buffed with the Dodge token, and upon using it against the enemy, it removes the Dodge token, allowing your team to attack the Cherubs or Deacon afterward. You can also use the Grave Robber's skill called Thrown Dagger if you have a Stealth token equipped, as it will also ignore enemies buffed with the Dodge token. While the Cherubs' Dodge buff token is disabled, you can use any of your heroes' attacks that deals a lot of damage to quickly cut down the HP of the Cherubs.

Once the 2 Cherubs have been dealt with, you can now focus your attacks on the Deacon. You should ready your skills and combat items you can use to heal your heroes such as the Combat Item called Healing Salve and the Plague Doctor's skill called Battlefield Medicine, as the Deacon hits hard and deals a lot of damage. Using skills that afflict negative status effects and ranged attacks is best when dealing with the Deacon. A Melee Attack would not be of much of help if the Deacon has The Flesh Warps skill activated, since that skill grants the Deacon a buff and receives -50% damage from Melee Attacks. You can use the Grave Robber's skill called Pick to the Face, although this is a Melee Attack, it will completely ignore the buff, and you can still get a pretty decent amount of damage in. You can use ranged skills such as Noxious Blast, Blinding Gas, and Poison Dart. These 3 skills are ranged attacks that deals damage and will apply poison DOT effect when it's the enemy's turn.

Be careful of the Deacon's skill Weight of Worlds, it is a Melee Attack that deals a lot of damage and targets the whole party, and it will also apply the Immobilize or Blind token negative status effect on all your heroes. You can use skills that can remove negative status effects such as the Highwayman's Take Aim and the Man at Arms' Command, these are support skills that can remove the Blind token effect. Sundering Steel and Exultation are also one of the Deacon's skills to look out for. Sundering Steel is a Melee Attack that targets 1 hero, deals a lot of damage, and will also remove any Block token applied on the selected hero if it has any in effect. Having skills or items that can increase the team's HP is best to overcome Sundering Steel. Exultation is also another Melee Attack that deals a decent amount of damage on the selected hero, and also applies a Dodge buff token to itself and its team. You can use the Highwayman's skill called Tracking Shot to ignore and remove the Dodge buff token on the selected target.

In summary, try eliminating the 2 Cherubs accompanying the Deacon first while also taking turns in trying to use Skills that can inflict DOT effects on the Deacon. Often use skills and Combat Items that can heal, remove negative status effects, and also buff your heroes from time to time since the Deacon will be dealing a lot of damage to your team.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Weight of Worlds - A very damaging Melee Attack that targets the whole party and there's also a chance it will apply the Immobilize or Blind token negative status effect. Once your heroes have been hit with this skill, an Immobilize or Blind token negative status effect will apply on all your heroes. You can use different items or skills that can remove negative status effects such as Take Aim or Command. These are support skills that can remove the Blind token effect, these skills are exclusive to the Highwayman and Man at Arms, respectively.
The Flesh Warps - Grants the Deacon a Buff to receive -50% damage from Melee Attacks. When this skill is activated, it is best to use your heroes' ranged attacks that deals DOT such as the Plague Doctor's Noxious Blast or Blinding Gas. You can also use melee attacks that ignores this effect such as the Grave Robber's skill called Pick to the Face.
Sundering Steel - A basic Melee Attack that deals a lot of damage on the selected target. Will also remove any Block token applied on the hero if it has one in effect. This skill deals a lot of damage and will also remove any Block token applied on the hero if it has any, it is best to use items or skills that can greatly increase your hero's HP.
Exultation - A basic Melee Attack where the Deacon swings its axe to its target. Also applies a Dodge buff token effect to itself and its team. Once the skill is in effect, everyone on the enemy team will receive a Dodge buff token. Using skills such as the Highwayman's Tracking Shot is useful for this scenario, as it ignores the Dodge buff token and also removes them once used on a target.
